Break free from rigid gender roles!

For the sixth time, Musikszene Bremen e.V. is celebrating female and queer artists from 12 to 15 November in and around the Lagerhaus cultural centre with a diverse programme of concerts, workshops and discussions.

When things are rusty and creaking, WD-40 is often the only thing that helps. Or – in the case of encrusted structures – WD*42! WD stands for ‘female/diverse’ and the 42 – as Douglas Adams fans know – makes everything possible. Because we are convinced that gender equality in the music business is both possible and necessary. At the heart of the programme, therefore, are practical workshops for FLINTA, in which participants can try things out, develop their skills and network. Why lament the status quo when it can best be changed through our own initiative, in a playful and supportive way? Whether you’re a curious beginner or an established artist looking to exchange ideas – at WD*42, everyone will quickly find what they’re looking for.

The supporting programme of films, concerts and discussions is open to all – because the festival’s feminist ethos is seen as an invitation to everyone to help shape the scene collectively and fairly – regardless of gender!

The programme will be published here in mid-October.

FARAVAZ IM KULTURZENTRUM LAGERHAUS!

Line Up: FarAvaz, QueenWho und Rocky Peaches at 14. November

Faravaz’s voice is a political act: born in Tehran, the singer-songwriter and activist defied the ban on women singing solo in public and was imprisoned as a result. But Faravaz cannot be silenced: now living in Berlin, she blends R&B, hip-hop and contemporary alternative pop with Persian instrumentation. Her songs explore the body and boundaries, identity and women’s rights – and the question of who has a voice. Direct, witty and angrier than is usually the case in pop music.

On 14 November, Faravaz will be coming to the Kulturzentrum Lagerhaus with her full band to celebrate the power of the voice – Raise your voices!

All Allies Welcome, no matter which gender!
